Environment: When
I took office, I was astonished at how our environment was
in complete disarray. The damage from decades of inattentiveness
and complacency was evident and in need of immediate address.
Fortunately, a reenergized movement to protect and preserve
our environment swept the halls of Tallahassee and environmental
conservation has been a top priority ever since.

Common Sense
Government: Government cannot succeed as an inefficient bureaucracy with little desire to achieve efficiencies in providing services. Success comes from maximizing efficiencies through increased accountability, investing in the state's economy through tax breaks, grants and incentives, and utilizing privatization where the private sector is better suited to provide a particular service. These 'common sense' principles are successful because a better government does not mean bigger government.

Public Safety: After nearly a decade of landmark reforms, Florida has made significant strides in crime reduction and the overall safety of our communities. Today, we boast some of the lowest crime rates in state history and continue to work towards an even safer Florida.

Tax Relief
and Job Growth: Just over a decade ago,
Florida had one of the highest state tax rates in the country
due to failed policies and a "tax and spend" mentality.
Change was imminent. The economic environment bloated by
big government, higher taxes, and reckless spending began
to dissipate.

Military and
Veterans: With over 225,000 active military personnel, over 12,000 National Guardsmen and 1.8 million veterans calling Florida home, it is vital that we continue to improve the lives of our military men and women. I am immensely grateful to these brave men and women and feel their call to duty should be answered with our own call to action.

Seniors: Florida has long been known as a destination for retiring seniors who desire a place to spend their golden years. This is nothing new. What is new is the approach Florida has taken in accommodating the highest number of elderly residents per capita of any state. Recent advancements like specialized health care and pharmaceutical programs, tax breaks and crime prevention geared towards senior Floridians are the result of a dedicated commitment to improving paradise for our elderly.
